Denise Lacarra Fernández is a Tijuana based contemporary artist originally from San Diego. She paints large-scale abstract paintings that combine expressive and organic brush work with structural drawing. Her paintings are a personal dialogue through a nonconventional perspective. In her work she is interested in creating intimate experiences of color, line, and form. Lacarra’s emotional and automatic process contends with the unseen through over-painting, scraping and reworking. She is compelled by an intuitive journey of a continuous self-discovery through the lyrical abstraction of mindfulness.
Denise studied painting at the Athenaeum School of. (2001-2009), Losina Art Center, San Diego, Ca. (2004-2008), Watts Atelier of the Arts, Encinitas, Ca. (2006-2007), Painting-Painting with E. Ciapara, Tijuana B.C. (2012-2017), and other free factories in her region. She has participated in diverse collective exhibitions as much in the region, as in the United States, Italy and France. Her work is currently on view at the Museum of the Grapevine and Vino, Valley of Guadalupe, Cove B.C. |
