Ellen Lane, works with acrylics, collage, and assemblage, and often incorporates non-traditional materials in her paintings. She is interested in texture, hidden images, movement, age, and the process of painting itself. Her work in abstraction is a very personal, automatic, relationship with the materials she works with.
Lane began painting in 1981, and studied with international artists Fritz Scholder, Nathan Oliveira, and George Herms, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, UW Milwaukee. She also studied photography and graphics at Milwaukee Technical College, which led to 12 years as a professional photographer and multi-media producer. This will be Ellen’s second year with Hotels/Motels (Unofficial Art Fair). |
