Michael Walrond is a contemporary artist and commercial photographer based in San Diego. He is interested in the transformation of images, using light and organic manipulation without Photoshop or any post production processes. Michael works with live models and unusual sets to create signature profiles of his subjects in the moment. The resulting images are like “in between portraits” that mirror the connection between the artist, model, and viewer. In his work he hopes to capture the authentic self through splinters of unedited emotion. He also works in film and installation.
Walrond dropped out of art school in Los Angeles to directly pursue work in the creative industry. He has worked on design, film, and fashion projects, such as Michael Jackson’s tribute exhibit at The Grammy Museum, Il Teatro Alla Moda by The Wallis Annenberg, and La Plaza. He currently works as a contemporary photographer and installation artist out of his studio at the ArtHatch building in Escondido. |
