Rebecca Romani, is a contemporary artist and a curator. She works in a variety of media including film and video. Her art and curatorial projects often deal with political/social/cultural commentary to create an interesting and, hopefully provocative look at the issue at hand. Much of her work deals with Middle East/North Afirca, the Border, and immigration and identity. She has curated with Voz Alta and The Centro Cultural de la Raza and video projects in a number of venues. Her work, which also touches on these themes, has been shown in a number of local shows by curators such as Doris Bittar, Yvette Roman, and Leticia Gomez Franco.
In addition, Rebecca Romani is also a freelance writer, who has been published in Hyperallergic and KPBS. She also covers film, the border and national stories for a variety of outlets. Her work has appeared in The Christian Science Monitor, IPS.org, Cineaste and the Levantine Review. Rebecca Romani teaches English and film at San Diego State University and Cinema Studies at Palomar College and UC San Diego. She also curates film screenings, including a series at the downtown San Diego Public Library. Rebecca Romani holds an MA in Television, Film and New Media from San Diego State University.
