In the near future this page will be the launching point for a comprehensive and efficient reference data base. This will include, resources for artists, art students, art educators, and art organizations.
The Directory will include the following reference links and more: call for artists, art grants, art scholarships, artist residencies, fellowships, jobs, art schools and programs, college galleries, and other various art educational resources. We will also include everything from California based museums, galleries, art centers, to smaller non-profits, and art services. Currently, with a Bay Area emphasis, in the long term this will extend throughout California. This page will also include very specific national and international resources.

We've done a great deal of research to create a specialized data base that will provide much needed mobility for art students, and important references for artists and art professionals. We hope to begin publishing soon! Please subscribe for updates on this project.

The California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks) Artist Directory > Join as an Artist or Organization
State Parks invites California based artists that are interested in creating public art in California State and/or local parks to join the Arts in California Parks directory. The directory is a resource available to all State and local California Parks staff, as well as the general public, to be used to search for artists based on location, art medium, or other considerations, in order to explore opportunities for collaboration.
Artists working in a variety of mediums, styles, and techniques, as well as artists from diverse abilities, backgrounds, and cultures, and with a range of experiences, creative visions, aesthetics, and approaches are encouraged to join the directory.

• Torrance Art Museum (TAM) accepts proposals for Projects and “GROUP” exhibitions
Eligibility: International
Individual artists are welcome to share their work and/or practice through an online portfolio, website, or in cases of video/film work, links to a reel or selections of their works. Physical portfolio submissions are also accepted by mail only. All submissions will be accepted for consideration and review for potential inclusion in future programming. TAM is located in Southern California, in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.
TAM does not accept proposals to host exhibitions for juried shows, non-art special interest groups, amateur artists or non-curated/ non-themed exhibitions.

• MAS Attack (a pop-up exhibition of solidarity) @ the Torrance Art Museum (TAM) - No Fees

Artists are invited to drop off their work at TAM from Tuesday, December 10th to Friday, December 13th, 10am-4pm.
The opening reception will be Friday, December 13th, 6-9pm. At 9pm, artists can take their work home with them.
Join us for the return of the Mutual Appreciation Society event—MAS Attack! This one-night-only exhibition invites all artists to share work that reflects these turbulent times, whether political, emotional, or personal. At its simplest, abstract works of art focus on the key elements of visual art, shape, color and line to
create images that do not represent our physical world but may allude to it. Artists also use an
unlimited number of techniques, textures, and details to imbue feelings into their images. This lack of
physical reference welcomes the viewer to add their interpretation to the story the image is telling.
We invite artists to share their unique imagery as they are Driven to Abstraction using various
mediums and techniques.

• 2025-2026 Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency

Founded in 2007, JTHAR is a nonprofit artist residency, which invites artists from around the world to create work amidst the beauty of Joshua Tree National Park and connect to the vibrant local artistic community. The residency provides scholarship funds, accommodations, studio space and a gallery exhibition.

• Visions Museum of Textile Art (San Diego): Call for Proposals – 2026 exhibition season

Visions Museum of Textile Art (VMOTA) is pleased to invite textile and fiber artists for solo or group exhibitions to submit proposals to exhibit in their galleries in 2026. VMOTA hosts three exhibition cycles for their main galleries and eight exhibition cycles for the Spotlight Gallery. The museum seeks to exhibit a variety of artists working in various textile and fiber art mediums. This call for proposals is open to national and international artists at all career levels.

• Carroll Harris Simms National Black Art Competition and Exhibition @ the African American Museum in Dallas, Texas

Entry Fee: $10 (up to 4)
Eligibility: National
The competition awards $1000.00 to one artist in each of the following categories: painting, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, printmaking and photography. One work is chosen from the category winners as the Best in Show artist. This artist also wins the opportunity to have a solo exhibition in the two years following the competition. The Best in Show artist agrees to donate a piece of their work from the show to the museum’s permanent collection.  The purpose of the Competition and Exhibition stemmed from the Museum’s need to build a distinguished art collection and to provide Black artists a venue to display their work. After several years of annuals, the competition became a biennial. In 1999, the African American Museum’s Board of Trustees named the Biennial Southwest Black Art Competition and Exhibition the Carroll Harris Simms National Black Art Competition and Exhibition for Professor Simms’ outstanding contribution to art and art education.

McColl Center for Art + Innovation is a nationally acclaimed artist residency and contemporary art space in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our unique neo-Gothic building features 30,000 square feet with four individual artist studios, more than 5,000 square feet of exhibition space, and multiple common-use spaces, including a print shop, wood shop, and sculpture studio. We invite artists to take risks in their processes and explore their ideas within the context of Charlotte.

The City of Santa Rosa Public Art Program invites artists to submit proposals for temporary art installations with the theme Earthbound: Art for a Sustainable Future in partnership with City of Santa Rosa Earth Day Celebration.  This initiative aims to inspire conversations about sustainability while showcasing innovative, eco-conscious art that engages the public and promotes environmental awareness.

The mural site is located along Osborne Avenue between Central Avenue and Nebraska Avenue in Tampa, Florida, is located in a neighborhood that is diverse and evolving.
This is open to artists who work in painted murals or who incorporate tile in their work. It is the desire of the committee for the selected artist to engage the community in some fashion during the project. The proposed location for the artwork are the gravity walls under the interstate, both approximately measuring 211 feet x 8 feet for a commissioned artwork.

• Yosemite Renaissance 40th anniversary 2025 Traveling Exhibition

- Entry Fee $25: Additional entries (up to 4) are $15 each, and $10 each (from 5 to 8).
- The exhibit is open to artists worldwide.
- Yosemite Renaissance retains a 40% commission on sales.

The Yosemite Renaissance Exhibition is an annual exhibit that offers an opportunity for artists inspired by nature and the California Sierra Nevada region to display and promote their art. The exhibit opens at Yosemite Gateway Art Center in Oakhurst, March 15th 2025, then travels on to other art centers in California through January 2026.

The Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant is available to individual painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked in a mature phase of art for 20 years or more. Individual Support Grant is also determined by the applicant’s current financial need.

Deadline: February 2025 (Applications review is on ongoing from November 2024 through February 2025. Once accepted, you will immediately be able to select a room (room preference is on a first come basis).

This annual juried exhibit showcases artwork from all over the state of California. MICA strives to highlight artists in all stages of their careers and offers them a chance to compete for a number of awards, including the coveted solo show opportunity. This regional show features artwork from an extensive variety of mediums and explores creative movements happening in California.
First Place: $750, Second Place: $500, Third Place: $250, Solo Show: $350, Director’s Choice: $200, Mayor’s Choice: $100, Staff Picks: $100 each, Popular Choice: $100. Honorable mentions and additional awards to be announced.
Sales: Gallery will retain 30% of the selling price

• SCG Artist in Residence & Teaching Program (SCG ART) 2025 @ Blue Line Arts -  Roseville, CA
Deadline: 02/07/2025
- Residency dates: September 5th - 26th, 2025
- Eligibility: National
- Compensation: The selected Artist will be awarded studio residence in the Broad Education Gallery at Blue Line Arts for three weeks from Friday, September 5th to Friday, September 26th 2025. The selected Artist shall receive an Honoraria of $10,000 that will be paid directly to the Artist as follows: 25% upon arrival and 75% upon departure. The selected artist shall receive a total per diem (for food, etc) in the amount of $1,470.
There will be an additional budget for reimbursement of qualified travel expenses up to approximately:
        Travel - $800
        Car Rental - $800
        Housing - $4200
        Supplies/Shipping of Artwork - $500
Placer Community Foundation (PCF) is a nonprofit public benefit corporation which manages the Susan Cooley Gilliom Artist in Residence & Teaching Program (SCG ART Program).  In partnership with PCF the program is housed through Blue Line Arts in Roseville, CA.

• Sac Arts Banner Project: Open to the first 100 Submissions
Deadline: 03/01/25 (no apparent fees)
The banner will be on view for approximately 5-7 years at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, in Carmichael, CA.
SUBMISSION SPECIFICATIONS: Banners will be 3 1/2 ft x 11 1/2 ft, so submissions should have a 3:11 ratio. Images will be cropped if they are outside of the suggested ratio. Submit only high-resolution images. So that voting can be anonymous, we ask that artists do not sign work at this time.

This year’s theme, Critical Refuge, asks us to reflect on our journey as immigrants, refugees, and generations of descendants and/or mixed race people in the diaspora as we seek necessary sanctuary within ourselves and in our communities in times of unrest and uncertainty. The festival will honor AAPI arts and culture reflecting on where we have been, where we are now, and what our collective future holds while acknowledging our roots as immigrants, refugees, and mixed-race descendants.

Falkirk Cultural Center invites artists residing within the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area to submit up to 3 separate pieces of original work completed in the past two years, not previously shown in a Falkirk Cultural Center exhibition.  The theme is "Memories". Artists are invited to submit images that for them, recall a significant memory. Places, events or possibly showing an emotion or feeling that has triggered a memory are examples.

Accepted artists will have the options to choose from a 12” or 24” surface.
